HourLimit
This Privacy Policy explains how the HourLimit app ("HourLimit", "the App", "we") handles your information. HourLimit lets you set per-app screen time limits that reset at the top of every hour, and blocks those apps when a limit is spent.
Your limits, selected-app tokens, usage checkpoints, and preferences stay entirely on your device. There is no account to create and no advertising or analytics. Purchase and entitlement information is processed by Apple and RevenueCat as described below.
So that your limits survive between launches, HourLimit saves the following locally on your iPhone:
This is stored in a small file inside the App's own container, shared only with HourLimit's own app extensions so they can enforce your limits in the background. Your selected apps, Screen Time usage, limits, and preferences are never sent to HourLimit, RevenueCat, or any other third party.
HourLimit requires Apple's Screen Time permission, and uses the FamilyControls, DeviceActivity and ManagedSettings frameworks to do its job. Concretely, this permission is used to:
Apple's design keeps this private by construction. The apps you select are handed to HourLimit as opaque tokens — the App cannot read their names, their icons, or any usage history, and neither can we. The system only reports that a limit you set was crossed.
HourLimit is a self-control tool for your own device. It is not a parental-control, employee-monitoring, or reporting product, and it has no facility for sharing anything with another person.
HourLimit asks for notification permission so it can tell you when a limit has been reached and, if you enable it, when a new hour has begun. Notifications are scheduled and delivered locally on your device. You can decline or revoke this permission at any time in iOS Settings, and the App keeps working without it.
HourLimit Pro is offered as an auto-renewing monthly subscription or a one-time purchase. Purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store using StoreKit and managed through RevenueCat so the App can determine whether Pro is active. We never receive your payment card details. Apple and RevenueCat may process an app-scoped identifier, product and transaction identifiers, purchase status, and limited device or platform information needed to complete purchases, prevent fraud, restore access, and provide customer support. Their handling of this information is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy and RevenueCat's Privacy Policy.
HourLimit contains no advertising, analytics SDKs, or third-party tracking. RevenueCat is used only for purchase and entitlement management. We do not sell personal data.
If iCloud Backup is enabled on your device, iOS may include HourLimit's local settings file in your encrypted device backup. This is managed entirely by Apple and governed by Apple's privacy policy. You can exclude the App from backups in iOS Settings → Apple ID → iCloud.
Removing a limit inside the App deletes it immediately, and deleting the App removes HourLimit's local data from your device. Purchase records may continue to be retained by Apple and RevenueCat as required to provide, restore, secure, and account for purchases; their privacy policies describe applicable retention and request options.
HourLimit is a general-audience self-control tool and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal information held about you. Rights relating to HourLimit's on-device data are exercised directly in the App and through iOS Settings. For purchase information processed by Apple or RevenueCat, contact the applicable provider through the links above or contact us for assistance.
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. We encourage you to review it periodically.
